Summer

Summer in the midwest is unparalleled. Road-tripping between cities seems easier, the laid back north provides the perfect escape and there's so many perfect ways to end a day at the office.
The long winter and endless spring just make it better...

Upside Down

Read a really interesting article in Wired today about how the whole "green" movement is misguided.

In a few words: live in cities, buy used cars, nuclear power, don't eat organic, crank a/c (not heat) and accept that the world is changing.

While I'm a fan of making a smaller environmental impact, the current "green" movement seems skewed towards making people solve their problems through commerce (which really isn't green) and pretty simple thinking. Unfortunately, my practices are anything but green. We live in the suburbs, travel 3 1/2 hours to our cottage every weekend in the summer months just to drive in circles in our boats.

But there is an upside: as stated in the article, buying a used car means that a late model BMW M5 (a.k.a my future car) is more "eco friendly" than a Prius. News like that almost makes me want to become an activist...
It takes me way too long to write these things because I forget to hit the "publish post" button.

Next, Please.

I guess this chapter is done.
It seems like an impossibility that this is not an internship or a "summer job". Tomorrow is the start of my "career" (or something along those lines). My only worry is that I will become consumed by work and miserably one dimensional. I am aware that you're supposed to love your job, but I always view employment as a way to enjoy the rest of your life. We'll just have to see if that stays true for me.
I feel like everyone I know is a "blogger" now and I'm starting to feel like I'm on some sort of bandwagon... No thanks.

On the Spot

KANYE SAVES THE WORLD. from Bobby Hundreds

New Kanye material. Some thought up the night before, some on the spot.

Visit to East Lansing was great. The people truly make the town, so I don't know how it will be next fall when I'm just stopping by to visit brother.

Typing on my phone ruined how I type on the computer now.

Pharrell Williams

Pharrell is pretty much one of the top 10 people to copy as far as taste-makers are concerned. What's truly impressive is how dynamic he is. From Louis Vuitton to the studio, his creations always have a quality that supersedes the work itself.

Spring Cleaning

Up north at the cottage for the weekend. Picked up every leaf in northern Michigan (or so it feels). Dock is in but the boats are not.

Start of the 8th summer at the new cottage, 14th @ East Twin Lake (total).

The up north life could be another reason to stay in Mich for a while....

So Necessary

Thought I needed a blog. I mean, why not. No one will read this, but in case you do, hi.
Bateman competition is done. Score sheets returned. Those will be posted soon.

Just graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in advertising.

I’m hoping to use this as a thought process. Inspiration, things I want to share and steal will be the focus of this blog. I also never intend to tell someone that I have a blog. I don’t want to be a blogger.
This may change…..
